In solidarity with this year’s theme for International Women’s Day, we celebrate women’s leadership. Women were on the front lines in the pandemic and we suffered the greatest losses, especially job losses.
The Equal Rights Amendment, first introduced in 1923, has been ratified by the necessary 38 states and should come up in the Senate during the Biden Administration. The ERA would help guarantee our rights to equal pay, equal access to work, reproductive freedom, child care, health care, LGBTQ rights, freedom from sexual violence, and more.
The amendment says, simply, “Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.”
That’s it. And though other laws, both state and federal, do forbid discrimination, women’s rights are constantly chipped away by courts and legislators. Without a Constitutional ERA, a judge may—and many do—interpret federal or state law through their own values and biases around gender and sexuality.It’s time to add the Equal Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.”

Feb. 21, 2021. Central Park. The closing of Wollman Rink by Mayor deBlasio was scheduled this day, included terminating all four Trump Organization contracts: the Central Park Carousel, Wollman and Lasker skating rinks and the Ferry Point Golf Course. He could have let them stay open thru the end of the season. The park, the rink are full. But, de Blasio’s Trump Deranged Syndrome (TDS) knows no bounds.
Meanwhile, patriot Dion Cini set out to fly his Trump 2024 banner around the rink before its closure. However, I couldn’t find the rink. I always get lost in the park, even with google and a compass. Thankful that scootercaster caught Dion in action – as well as the assault on him by rink employees.
I arrived after the action, but still enjoyed the packed rink. Frustrating though. How can de Blasio be allowed to take down the rink?
After enjoying the skaters, I came upon a ballet class using the Wollman fence for barre. Fun.
As I left the park, I saw more happy kids (large and small) …
and … happy squirrels …. all playing in the snow in the park.

October 10, 2020, perhaps Teddy won. I checked periodically, and noted on September 1, 2020, he was still there.
His statue remained.
Did the protests succeed? After all the press about this “racially insensitive” statue of Teddy Roosevelt, the statue has gone in to the dust bin of “no longer news worthy” stories. Teddy still stands and no one seems to care. [ NY Post ]
No date had been set for the removal, a spokesperson for the mayor’s office told CNN in their June 22 report.

On October 15, 2020, New Yorkers of all faiths and colors demanded that Governor Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio stop targeting the Jewish community.
“There is NO excuse for the government to single out ONE minority community.”
The coalition gathered in front of the famous New York Public Library on 5th Avenue (between 41st and 42nd Streets).
Their message:
“Over the past two weeks, Gov. Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio, focused blame on the Jews for increased corona virus rates despite statistical evidence showing marked increases in many areas of New York.

The reason for this warning, there were two new hard core groups that were gathering at 6 pm. (The African Black Panther Party; United Panther Movement) They proceeded to riot (led by rich WHITE 20 yrs olds) causing $100,000 damage as they rioted in the street going up town from Foley.

August 5, 2020 – Patriots welcomed Bob (DeNiro’s) Tribeca Grill back to the streets of lower Manhattan – MAGA style – with a Trump 2020 Rally (outside his restaurant) Surely NOT what Bob was expecting.
The Naked Cowboy joined the celebration with the patriots.
Fun was had by all at this good-time event.
Even the Tribeca Grill Staff seemed entertained.

July 25, 2020. As cities burn across America, Portland in particular, the Mayor of New York City, “Red Bill” deBlasio, claims his city’s crime rate is down, all while “Defunding the Police”. (AP/Noah Berger)
Meanwhile, Mayor deBlasio’s graffiti ‘murals’, promoting the Marxist Black Lives Matter insurgents, were snuck in across the city; one in each of the five boroughs. The most important of these “murals” can be found ON Fifth avenue at Trump Tower.

Kept under wraps, there was little time for protestors to gather at the Trump Tower debut.

Reaction from the President to de Blasios’s folly:

De Blasio pushed back later that morning, tweeting, “The fact that you see it as denigrating your street is the definition of racism.”
“Black people BUILT 5th Ave and so much of this nation,” the mayor added. “Your “luxury” came from THEIR labor, for which they have never been justly compensated. We are honoring them.” [NY Post]
And then, the Battle of the Graffiti Murals began. On Monday, July 13, outside Trump Tower, the resistance dumped red paint on the BLM graffiti mural.
Police said the assailant who vandalized the massive message Monday walked up Fifth Avenue at 12:13 p.m. wearing a black shirt and a black hat, dumped the paint, then ran down 56th Street, police said.
The blotch of paint, dumped between “Black” and “Lives,” was smeared over much of the mural by passing traffic. [NY Post]
Next, on Friday, July 17th, Juliet Germonatta (a self described trans gender- with a checkered history, unfortunately) struck again: this time with BLUE paint.
Of course, each time, the mayor made sure the Red and Blue paints were erased quickly, taxpayers billed. [Yahoo ]

Earlier on Saturday, I took a look at the courthouse BLM graffiti mural. It seems to be a big secret, this 3 blocks long mural, only a block from the now defunct Occupy City Hall “Shanty Town”.

That leaves just two remaining graffiti murals. Since the locations will be on heightened alert, will these brave women be able to pull off the next assaults?

Visit the Black Lives Matter website, and the first frame you get is a large crowd with fists raised and the slogan “Now We Transform.” Read the list of demands, and you get a sense of how deep a transformation of this country they seek.

“No permission” was asked nor expected for them to have a protest/march. (They acknowledged proudly)
A HUGE crowd of disaffected gays and people of color marched against Police Brutality.
The police waited patiently, as the crowd gathered to march; with lots of nasty political posturing.
Despite the snarky signs and banners, the police were very laid back.
The march was HUGE. They never stopped arriving at Foley.(Organizers estimated 50,000 protesters attended the march) To their credit, the police quietly walked the protest through lower Manhattan to Washington Square.
Once evening arrived, however, the peaceful march behaved disgracefully towards the NYPD. Under shade of night, all bets of peaceful were off.

Apparently the city cannot control these protests. They protest, march, hang-out (forget social distancing), unchecked; a PRIVILEGE denied to the average citizens who would like to go to church, have a picnic, and WORK!

The ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic is exposing critical flaws in the institutions we rely on for our daily lives. The wealthiest nations in the world are failing to protect citizens from this deadly disease, shamelessly neglecting the needs of the people. In the USA, too little is being done too late to protect us from the disease. Countless working poor people are having to go to work with symptoms because we can’t afford to take time off.
The federal government has been slow to respond, and the stimulus packages they have cobbled together are woefully inadequate to protect the most vulnerable members of our society.
President Trump and capitalists across the country are expressing interest in workers going back to their jobs even before the pandemic is safely dealt with, callously proving that they put their own profits ahead of the lives and well being of the working class.
This situation is, quite simply, unsustainable.
People are dying, and the wealthy elites are demonstrating that they value their profits more than our lives.
