Democrats For Republican Lee Zeldin’s bid for NY Governor

9/12/22 – NY City Hall- Republican Lee Zeldin counts conservative Democrats among backers of his bid for governor of New York State … support comes from current and former lawmakers who say they’re no fans of Gov. Hochul, a fellow Democrat. [@RepLeeZeldin]

Many big Democratic Party endorsements of our campaign were announced today by our Democrats for Zeldin Coalition …  all citing crime as among their reasons. [Flickr Slide Show]

[The Democrats for Zeldin] … not the first to publicly cross the aisle and come out against Hochul as she seeks a full term in office. Last month, the Brooklyn-based New Era Democrats said they backed Zeldin’s bid. The club, which had supported former mayor Bill de Blasio, has a history of rallying behind GOP candidates, including endorsing Rudy Giuliani and George Pataki for mayor and governor, respectively, in the 1990s. Yiatin Chu of Asian Wave Alliance:” I stand with fellow common sense Democrats who put our community above party to endorse Lee Zeldin for governor. Above all else, NY must return to the safe city we’ve all enjoyed for decades, and that starts with electing Lee Zeldin as our next governor.”

Part 5 – Lee Zeldin addressed the media, taking questions. (One young reporter was persistently obnoxious re congestion pricing.)

Part 6 – Donghui Zang, former candidate for NY City Council   Unfortunately he was very difficult to understand. I kept a brief excerpt that spoke to the merit based SHSATSpecialized High School Admissions Test – NYC DOE.[https://www.donghuiforny.com/about]

Kathy Hochul gave a no-bid contract worth over $600M to a top campaign donor and paid twice the price for the COVID tests. … accusations of pay-to-play politics involving the governor. A donor tied to $300,000 in campaign donations received $637 million in state business for rapid tests that were twice the cost of those provided by other state vendors. This needs to be investigated”.

“… survey conducted by the Trafalgar Group showed Hochul with just a 4% advantage over Zeldin, a much closer margin than the double-digit lead seen in most other polls.” [ NY Post] [ NY Daily News]

NYC DEMANDS #EndJewHatred NOW!

On October 15, 2020, New Yorkers of all faiths and colors  demanded that Governor Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio stop targeting the Jewish community.

“There is NO excuse for the government to single out ONE minority community.”

The coalition gathered in front of the famous New York Public Library on 5th Avenue (between 41st and 42nd Streets).

Their message:

“Over the past two weeks, Gov. Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio,  focused blame on the Jews for increased corona virus rates despite statistical evidence showing marked increases in many areas of New York.

Cuomo and de Blasio are ignoring the truth: there is a resurgence of COVID-19 everywhere, but not just in Jewish communities. The neighborhoods with the largest increase in the weekly case rate (over the last two weeks) are not even addressed by the government’s new restrictions.”

.“Yad Yamin NY, along with other groups and movements …

…. were there demanding an end to the constant targeting of Jews & unfair applications of the Covid regulations.

.”The coalition of groups marched from the NYPL to Gov. Cuomo’s office, continuing the protest against Gov Cuomo and Mayor De Blasio’s non-uniform application of laws regarding Jews and their direct targeting of Jews” (photo Karen Lichtbraun)

“By pinpointing one highly visible minority as plague-spreading lawbreakers, de Blasio and Cuomo are reinforcing centuries-old anti-Semitic tropes. And SHAMEFULLY, used pictures of observant Jews as a symbol of non-compliance and recklessness. This fuels Jew hatred and serves no legitimate government interest.”

Shame, Shame on them.

The speakers were surrounded by lots of press, though I’m not sure the reports got much play. (Slide show of video screen shots)

Anti-Semitism Protest. “Name It. Fight it” at NY City Hall

Sunday. September 22, 2019. At Noon rally gathered outside New York’s City Hall Park to condemn anti-Semitic attacks that have been increasing dramatically in the city. Former Assemblyman Dov Hikind said “I’m asking the mayor to declare a state of emergency here in New York with regard to anti-Semitism.”
Usually, the Marxist groups like Rise and Resist ignore protests supporting Israel. However, today, I saw a couple of Rise-Resisting Marxists join the crowd. I know this because one yarmulked fellow was wearing a “Rise and Resist” T-shirt.
He was joined by a masked female comrade with a mission: she blew SMOKE at the crowd, harassment was key. Unfortunately, the inexperienced crowd was easy prey for the agitator.
They began yelling at the interloper. One woman spit (poor form) and another managed in-the-face fake coughing.
They could have ignored the agitator but today’s meme was “Jews Fight Back” encouraging a nose-to-nose confrontation to burst from within the crowd.“I am a Jew” was heard coming from the instigator as the police removed him from the rally.
As for the actual protest, the demonstrators slammed politicians, the media and even fellow Jews for not caring more about the hateful incidents. Good points. And even though Rise and Resist “Blew Smoke” at the rally, that harassment was confronted, for better or worse, as Jews Fought Back!It was a successful protest with a good turn out, check it out in the Flickr slide show and 4 short videos

Some closing words from The Geller Report: “Demonstrators call for a state of emergency over rising antisemitism in NYC” [Geller Report]

“Under Mayor de Blasio’s incompetent leadership, New York City has become unsafe for Jews. If these attacks were occurring against any other ethnic group de Blasio would be calling in the National Guard.

Perhaps de Blasio is reluctant to protect New York’s Jewish citizens, out of fear of angering his hard-Left constituents? Or maybe de Blasio is just another Jew-hating Leftist?

Demonstrators slammed politicians, the media and even fellow Jews for not caring more about the hateful incidents ….  Mayor de Blasio (needs) to take sweeping action to stop the trend.

“I’m asking the mayor to declare a state of emergency here in New York with regard to anti-Semitism,” Former Assemblyman Dov Hikind said.” [1010wins]

Mr. Mayor, are you back in town? It’s your move…. Listen and LEARN.
