“No Art for ApARTheid’s Sake” vs the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra

No Art for ApARTheid’s Sake’. Protest Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. [Face Book]

On February 3,  2019, New York’s Carnegie Hall hosted an outrageously expensive fundraising brunch for the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO), followed by an IPO concert performance. Tickets for the IPO brunch started at $1000. Protest the Israel Philharmonic was hosted by Adalah-NY

New York human rights advocates gathered in a noisy, musical protest in front of Carnegie Hall to demonstrate against an extravagant fundraising brunch and performance by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO). The IPO website proudly states that the Orchestra “represent[s] the State of Israel across the world.” [Mondo Weiss]

Adalah-NY

It’s gonna be a nice warm day in the 🌞40s!!!🌞 – perfect for protesting the Israel Philharmonic’s fundraising brunch! We’ll have our own ☕️anti-apartheid brunch☕️ with Palestinian pastries and music from the Rude Mechanical Orchestra! 🎺💓🎷So come on over to Carnegie Hall at 1 p.m. and bring your friends!

BDS is being attacked in Congress! Please support this and other such demonstrations if you can.

…. tell the IPO that music should be for liberation not whitewashing occupation!

“As the IPO’s wealthy supporters attend a lavish brunch inside to sustain its whitewashing of Israeli apartheid, we’ll be outside sustaining our love of justice with a small Palestinian brunch and music for liberation with the big freedom sounds of the Rude Mechanical Orchestra.”

“The IPO is no apolitical cultural institution.” Israel systematically deprives Palestinians of their basic rights, whether they live under Israeli military occupation, as unequal citizens in Israel, or as refugees, denied their right of return to their homeland.”

“Our protest responds to the Palestinian civil society call to boycott cultural institutions like the IPO that are complicit in sustaining Israel’s apartheid rule over the Palestinian people.” [Face Book]

Stand Up For Israel! Welcomes the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra! Hosted by Judean Resistance of NY

“Anti-Semitic attacks are occurring with greater frequency and intensity in NYC. A contributing factor are the anti-Israel groups infestation into mainstream society in the U.S. On Sunday, February, 3 the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing inside Carnegie Hall.”

“Outside of the theater, anti-Israel jihadists will be prey upon Israeli musicians, dignitaries, theater goers and unsuspecting pedestrians as they walk by, We can not let their anti-Semitic agenda continue unopposed. We must all do our part to stop the anti-Semitic attacks!  Stand up for Israel! Stand up for Am Yisrael! “[Face Book]

Anti-Israel Left Protests Batsheva Dance Company at NYC’s Joyce Theatre

July 10, 2018 – 6:30 pm. Joyce Theatre. Batsheva, The Young Ensemble (scheduled from July 10 to 22). A part of the Israeli government’s Dance Fest Israel 70, supported by the Consulate General of Israel in New York [video link]

So, of course, Adalah-NY protested with anti-Israel signs and obnoxious music from the Rude Mechanical Orchestra.

Thankfully the NEW JDL NY was there : On With The Show!

The audience arrived as the anti-Semites chanted boycott, boycott; handed out brochures supporting BDS and proclaimed Israel to be the perpetrator of Muslim/Arab Apartheid.

Self-hating Jews, hard-core Lefties … their LIES assaulted those who merely came to attend a dance concert:

The LIES: Apartheid. Racism. Israel. The problem is JUSTICE denied to Muslims in the Holy Land … by ISRAEL.

So glad to see the New JDL-NY there to “Stand Up For Israel “.

From the New JDL- NY: “Once again, American jihadists promoted BDS outside of the Joyce Theater. The rabid anti-Semites will use the Brand Israel program to promote their anti-Israel vitriol and lies.”

“Adalah-NY promotes a movement to de-legitimize Israel. We can not be silent where there is hate! We must be visible where there is hate!”

Afterwards, from New JDL-NY: “Thank-you to everyone who came out on this steamy night. One moment that stood out was a mother who came over to us with her three sons (under the age of 12). She is from Israel. She thanked the team in front of her kids. She was so thankful that people were standing up for Israel and that the anti-Israel group was being countered. We make a difference!”

Broadway World also posted this embarrassing article:

“July 9 was the 13th anniversary of the Palestinian boycott call. The protesters support the growing international movement for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) to pressure Israel to end its human rights abuses. Fifty human rights advocates held a vibrant, musical protest on the sidewalk just outside New York’s Joyce Theater to oppose the opening night performance by the Batsheva Dance Company, a leader in helping the Israeli government to whitewash its violent repression of the Palestinian people.

The dimwits at Bdwy World used SPLC , Southern Poverty Law Center, as a SOURCE to demean the New JDL-NY.  “A small group of protesters from the anti-Arab hate group the Jewish Defense League (JDL) protested in support of Batsheva, the Joyce Theater and the Israeli government, holding signs saying “Thank God for Trump”, and “Punish Gaza.

The Southern Poverty Law Center calls the JDL a “radical organization that preaches a violent form of anti-Arab, Jewish nationalism.” [Bdwy World]

Shame. shame Broadway World, using the arts to promote Adalah’s hate machine meme-of-the-day: “The arts should be for liberation, not whitewashing colonization!”

Their screed follows: “As Palestinians mark 70 years of dispossession, Batsheva–The Young Ensemble and the Joyce Theater will be celebrating Israel’s 70th anniversary.”

“… we call on Batsheva and the Joyce to sever their ties with the Israeli government and refuse to participate in its Brand Israel initiative, which cynically uses the arts to distract from Israel’s violations of Palestinian rights.”

“…. we’ll let Batsheva and the Joyce Theatre know that the arts should be for liberation, not whitewashing colonization!”

Some history on the origins of Batsheva. It all started with Batsheva de Rothschild.

More facts here:  Congress Demands State Department Release Secret Report Busting Myth of “Palestinian Refugees”

All [that Palestinians] can agree on as a community is what they want to destroy, not what they want to build.” [New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman]

There is no age-old Palestinian people. Most so-called Palestinians are relative newcomers to the Land of Israel

Like a mantra, Arabs repeatedly claim that the Palestinians are a native people. The concept of a “Stateless Palestinian people” is not based on fact. It is a fabrication. [The Geller Report]

Adalah. Boycott. BDS. “In response to a letter from Adalah-NY: Campaign for the Boycott of Israel criticizing the Joyce for hosting Batsheva and collaborating with the Israeli government, the Joyce’s Executive Director Linda Shelton wrote that the Joyce would “let the art speak for itself,” and asserted that artists’ work “has the potential to transcend violence and political conflict.” Ms. Shelton did not explain how dance sponsored by and in support of a government that is perpetrating systematic violence could transcend that same violence.”

“In his most recent review, he slammed the performance of Israel’s junior troupe, the Young Ensemble. And he did it in such a way as to make clear to readers that he regarded this group as a sort of example of Israel’s repression of “Palestinian” people.” [the Geller Report]

The New JDL NY says otherwise: DON’T LET AMERICA BECOME LIKE EUROPE; Hamas and its supporters are agents of RACISM, HATE and MURDER; THANK GOD FOR TRUMP!”

APATHY should NEVER be an OPTION.

Anti-Zionists Protest Israel Philharmonic at Carnegie Hall – again

October 25th, 2017, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO) gave a concert & gala at Carnegie Hall.  This was fantastic, yes?

Nope. These anti-Israel / anti-Zionist groups did not agree.

They organized ANOTHER anti-Israel protest outside Carnegie Hall aimed at de-legitimizing the State of Israel. AGAIN.

Each year, anti-Zionists return to protest the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra [IPO]. (For previous IPO Carnegie Hall protests, follow links to 2011 and 2012.)

Fortunately, their lies and hateful anti-Semitism did NOT go unchallenged.

The Jewish Defence League and other Zionists were there to “Stand Up For Israel”, to “Stop the lies” and “Stop the hate!”

Some anti-Israel protest chants compliments of Adalah NY and the other anti-Zionists.

Protest musical accompaniment- OUTSIDE Carnegie – was provided by the eponymous, Rude Mechanical Orchestra. Facebook.

Adalah, however, remains OFFENDED the IPO representing the State of Israel across the world. “Let the IPO know that apartheid is out of tune.”

“It (the IPO)”, says Adalah, “serves as a cultural ambassador for the State of Israel, playing a public role in the official Israeli propaganda campaign. Brand Israel uses art and music to distract attention from Israel’s human rights ‘abuses’ and ‘ethnic cleansing’ of the ‘Palestinian’ people.”

Adalah claims that, “the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra is not an apolitical cultural institution.”

“We (Adalah and other anti-Zionists) are responding to the call from ‘Palestinian’ civil society to boycott cultural institutions that are complicit in Israel’s ‘systematic repression’ of the Palestinian people living under Israeli ‘military occupation’ in the West Bank and Gaza Strip as unequal citizens in Israel or as refugees denied their right of return to their homeland.”

BTW- Adalah (the protest host for the evening) was connected in 2007 to the infamous Intifada NYC T-shirt .

Former Brooklyn Principal, Debbie Almontaser, defended the t-shirts, telling the NY Post that “intifada” meant “shaking off”, that the shirts represented women “shaking off” oppression. …. Peace be upon you ….

And now, the REAL STORY behind the Israel Philharmonic and its ORIGINS:

“Since its inception in 1936, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra has been dedicated to presenting exceptional music to audiences in Israel and throughout the world. From its inaugural concert, conducted by Arturo Toscanini, world-renowned soloists and conductors have performed with the IPO.

On December 26, 1936, the Palestine Symphony played its first concert in Tel Aviv under the baton of Arturo Toscanini. A staunch anti-Fascist, the legendary conductor enthusiastically accepted Huberman’s request to join the Symphony as a demonstration against Nazism, declaring, “I am doing this for humanity.”

“The public reception to this inaugural performance was overwhelming, with crowds standing outside near the windows and even climbing on rooftops in an attempt to hear the Symphony. The ovation at the end of the night lasted over 30 minutes.”

“The IPO is Israel’s foremost cultural ambassador and travels throughout the world, particularly to countries where there is little or no Israeli representation. In some cases, performances of the IPO are the only example of Israel’s existence.”

“The goodwill created by these tours, which included historic visits to Japan, Argentina, Poland, Hungary, Russia, China and India, is of enormous value to the State of Israel.”

Unfortunately, the anti-Israel protests never stop; good-will be damned.

NEXT WEEK, on Thursday, November 2,  I found two more anti-Israel events. FYI: November 2nd, 2017 marks the 100 year anniversary of the Balfour Declaration.

“At 5:30 pm, outside Israeli Embassy at 42nd St and 2nd Ave, a rally to “protest 100 years since the Balfour Declaration, to protest 100 years of colonization”, hosted by NYC Students for Justice in Palestine . The SJP claims that the Balfour Declaration was the first step toward the objective of political Zionism. [Face Book]

They will gather to protest the continued occupation of “Palestine” by Israeli Zionist forces.”

Also, at the United Nations, on November 2, 2017, from 3 PM4:30 PM, “100 yrs of the Balfour Declaration and impact on Palestinians” · Hosted by United Nations Division for Palestinian Rights.

The LIES Never Stop.

“The United Nations Palestinian Rights Committee cordially invites you to a lecture on the Balfour Declaration and the impact it has had on the Palestinian people. The lecture will be delivered by Professor Rashid Khalidi, the Edward Said Professor of Modern Arab Studies at Columbia University and director of the Middle East Institute of Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs in the ECOSOC Chamber of the United Nations Secretariat in New York. It will bring together a broad range of participants, including members of the diplomatic community in New York, UN staff members, representatives of civil society organizations and the general public.”[Face Book]

Pro-Israel/Pro-Idan Raichel COUNTERS Adalah-BDS Anti-Israel Tools (4-12-15)

Pro-Israel -Pro-Idan Raichel Rally was held outside the Beacon Theatre in NYC, April 12, 2015.Ironically, Adalah-NY was protesting against the appearance of the Israeli mega-sensation, Idan Raichel who was performing at the Beacon later that night. Ironic, because Raichel collaborates with and has created Israeli fusion music with Ethiopian Jews, Yemenite Jews, and Jews from other diverse traditions, as well as global fusion music with musicians from a large variety of ethnic and religious backgrounds from around the world.

Raichel is a unique Israeli cultural ambassador, whose music is a bridge to mutual understanding.”

There was a solid counter-protest, between 125-200, who supported Israel as well as Idan Raichel; challenging the predictable lies and agitprop sung and chanted  by the anti-Israel – BDS protestors.

A Pinocchio balloon loomed large over the pro-Israel/Pro-Idan supporters, aimed straight at the anti-Israel BDS crowd.

.

Pinocchio mocked  perfectly the stream of lies that came from the Adalah’s as they maligned  Idan Raichel and Israel.
.
Those who came out to counter the Adalah/BDS’rs, sang happily and carried Israeli flags, as well as the American flag.
“Our side out-numbered theirs by much more than 10:1 and exhibited tremendous energy and Ahavat Yisrael (Love of Israel).”

Op-Ed from Phyllis Chesler: Left Protests at Idan Raichel’s NY Performance – I Kid You Not

“On the evening of April 12th, on Manhattan’s upper West Side, the usual anti-Zionist and pro-Palestinian groups such as Adalah-NY, the BDS National Committee, and the Palestinian  Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel protested the performance of an Israeli musician.

Probably the most insane leftist protest ever. Idan Raichel and apartheid? If it weren’t so sad, most Israelis would burst out laughing.

They had a sound system which blared anti-Israel, angry “black”-style rap hate music. Most were white leftists; two were visibly Arab-looking.”

.

(Chesler) asked for a brochure.

“It read: “What kind of musician is an ambassador for apartheid? Serenades soldiers who destroy homes, lives, and land? Feels happy with a state characterized by racism, violence, and land theft?”

” My friends– Welcome to Upside-Down Land.”

(Continuing with Chesler) She engaged with one of the white pro-“Palestine” women (Sherry Wolfe) who told Chesler that “the people you are covering for endorse genocidal hatred and violence.”

The response, straight out of the Ivory Tower of multi-cultural relativism was this:

“We have our narratives and you have your narrative”

“At the moment in history when Syrians are massacring Palestinians in the Yarmouk camp, about which neither President Obama nor the PLO seem to be doing anything—
This is how anti-Zionist  pro-Palestinians chose to spend their time.”
