Democrats For Republican Lee Zeldin’s bid for NY Governor

9/12/22 – NY City Hall- Republican Lee Zeldin counts conservative Democrats among backers of his bid for governor of New York State … support comes from current and former lawmakers who say they’re no fans of Gov. Hochul, a fellow Democrat. [@RepLeeZeldin]

Many big Democratic Party endorsements of our campaign were announced today by our Democrats for Zeldin Coalition …  all citing crime as among their reasons. [Flickr Slide Show]

[The Democrats for Zeldin] … not the first to publicly cross the aisle and come out against Hochul as she seeks a full term in office. Last month, the Brooklyn-based New Era Democrats said they backed Zeldin’s bid. The club, which had supported former mayor Bill de Blasio, has a history of rallying behind GOP candidates, including endorsing Rudy Giuliani and George Pataki for mayor and governor, respectively, in the 1990s. [6 short videos – Zeldin can be heard in Part 5]

Part 1: Councilman Robt F. Holden, Dov Hikind (3:25)- end 8:59

NY City Hall- Part 1 of 6: Councilman Robt F. Holden, Dov Hikind (3:25)- end 8:59. Holden and Hikind slammed Hochul over crime and bail reform … Hochul’s approach to public safety pushed them to support Zeldin.

Part 3 – Madeline Brame, Victims Rights Reform Council

Yiatin Chu of Asian Wave Alliance:” I stand with fellow common sense Democrats who put our community above party to endorse Lee Zeldin for governor. Above all else, NY must return to the safe city we’ve all enjoyed for decades, and that starts with electing Lee Zeldin as our next governor.”

Part 5 – Lee Zeldin addressed the media, taking questions. (One young reporter was persistently obnoxious re congestion pricing.)

Part 6 – Donghui Zang, former candidate for NY City Council   Unfortunately he was very difficult to understand. I kept a brief excerpt that spoke to the merit based SHSATSpecialized High School Admissions Test – NYC DOE.[https://www.donghuiforny.com/about]

Kathy Hochul gave a no-bid contract worth over $600M to a top campaign donor and paid twice the price for the COVID tests. … accusations of pay-to-play politics involving the governor. A donor tied to $300,000 in campaign donations received $637 million in state business for rapid tests that were twice the cost of those provided by other state vendors. This needs to be investigated”.

“… survey conducted by the Trafalgar Group showed Hochul with just a 4% advantage over Zeldin, a much closer margin than the double-digit lead seen in most other polls.” [ NY Post] [ NY Daily News]

End Illegal Mandates : 1st Anniv. March For Justice – LET US WORK!

August 25. 2022: The End Illegal Mandates: March For Justice. The 1st yr anniversary of the government’s over-reach began outside the DOE (Department of Education) in Brooklyn.

“IT Ain’t Over til it’s OVER!”.

.Other protestors were gathered on the east side of City Hall, see Flicker Slide Show:

.There was some confusion as to the final location (it was the west side of City Hall) but until that was cleared up many protest signs were placed on the east side of City Hall fence.

. This is the usual set up and the NYPD has not made it an issue- UNTIL today.

TODAY, the police demanded the signs be removed. Stating there is a law nothing can be placed on public fences. (video).

.HOWEVER, I noted the placement of vendor pictures on the pedestrian walkway fence that leads to the Brooklyn Bridge. Rules for thee…but not for… ?

And then the marchers arrived. (video)

. After they exited the bridge, the protest march set up on the west side of City Hall.  See Flickr slide show:

Things have NOT changed: 1,300 NYC school staffers must now get COVID vaccine — or they will be let go.

The unpaid employees — including hundreds of teachers — have been getting health coverage since skipping the city’s deadline to get vaccinated last Oct. 4.

Another roughly 1,100 unvaccinated DOE employees who rejected the unpaid-leave deal have already been fired, the DOE said.

But if those staffers “provide proof of full vaccination, they will be eligible for rehiring,” with no guarantee of the same position.

Another 82 teachers accused of submitting fake vaccination cards were taken off the city payroll on April 25 after they were caught up on a Suffolk County criminal investigation, but will be put back on the payroll on Sept. 6 pending the probe.
