Iran’s Lion and the Sun Will End Sunni Tyranny

While the West Surrenders to Islam, Iran Is Fighting to Break Free From It- Geller Reports

The Islamic Republic is not simply another authoritarian government. For decades, it has exported terrorism, destabilized the region, violated the human rights of its own citizens, and challenged international security … In January 2026 … millions of Iranians answered the call of Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi …The Islamic Republic of Iran responded with extraordinary violence… widespread killings, attacks on medical facilities, arrests and an ongoing campaign of executions against perceived opponents.[Geller Reports]

Yet what deeply disappointed many Iranians… the lack of… support from much of the democratic world for their struggle.”[@Anahit322175]

.The Lion and Sun Flag served as Iran’s official state flag from 1907 until the 1979 Islamic Revolution. It  represents a proud, culturally rich nation standing in defiance of the oppressive, radical theocracy that has held their country hostage for decades.

Banned inside Iran after 1979, the Lion and the Sun flag has been widely adopted by the global Iranian diaspora, opposition groups, and protesters as a powerful emblem of secularism, national identity and defiance against the current theocratic regime.

Under the last Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, people had wide cultural and personal freedoms … The Shah’s crucial decade from 1965 to 1975  when citizens enjoyed secular lifestyles, and women made big gains,

The same was true about Iranian Jewssome 100,000 of the them, who had lived in Iran for over 3,000 years.  In the words of David Menasheri, it was the Jews’ “golden age,” wherein they enjoyed equality with Muslims and in terms of their per capita incomes “they might have been the richest Jewish community in the world. Some of the most innovative and successful industrialists, engineers, architects, and artists were either Jewish or Baha’i… ” [https://www.econlib.org/archives/2015/05/civil_and_econo.html]

Before the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi’s government maintained a close, covert alliance with Israel. Today, his exiled son, Reza Pahlavi, actively cultivates ties with the Israeli government.

.So long as they did not politically oppose the Shah, Iran was one of the most liberal societies in the Muslim world in terms of cultural and religious tolerance ….   [https://www.econlib.org/archives/2015/05/civil_and_econo.html]

  • The Spark for Revolution was the Shah’s  heavy-handed political repression united diverse factions—from leftist students to religious traditionalists—into the massive popular movement that overthrew him in 1979.

.Today, Iran is an Islamic Republic characterized by strict religious governance, mandatory public hijab laws, and conservative social structures.

The revolution gave them a brutal and oppressive regime, far worse than the Shah’s regime. TODAY, “t
hey are the only people on earth who have lived under a pure, unadulterated Islamic theocracy for decades-and because of that, they are the only people who truly see it for what it is.

Iranians are now paying in blood to undo the damage of religious totalitarianism. The world must not remain silent while lives hang in the balance.

Islam is a garment forced upon them at sword-point, not a heritage chosen by their hearts.

Iran is not the land of clerics and fanaticism. It is the land of Zarathustra, the legacy of Cyrus the Great – a civilization built on dignity, wisdom, and leadership long before desert chaos swept in from Arabia.”

”They have lived through the nightmare, tasted the poison and rejected the cure-less disease.”

At a time when many governments around the world are still uncertain about how to deal with the terrorist regime ruling Iran, the people of Iran will never forget which countries and governments truly understood them and stood by them during these difficult days.[@Anahit322175]

.The next link revisits the Iranian Green Movement  protest I covered  in 2009 [with pictures and videos.] So little has changed.

The Green Movement  occurred in the weeks following the highly contested June 12, 2009 presidential election, in which incumbent Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was declared the victor.

The official results sparked massive, non-violent demonstrations across Iran as supporters of opposition candidates Mir-Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi claimed the election was rigged.

The movement adopted the color green, and the government responded with widespread arrests, violence, and heavy suppression of dissent. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Back To the Future

In 2026, the situations of the two prominent Iranian reformist and Green Movement leaders diverge following their 15-year incarceration. [1, 2]

  • Mehdi Karroubi: Karroubi’s 15-year house arrest was officially lifted. He has made public statements challenging Iran’s current leadership and continues to advocate for the release of other political prisoners. [1, 2]
  • Mir-Hossein Mousavi: Despite negotiations for their joint release, Mousavi and his wife, Zahra Rahnavard, have remained under house arrest. Mousavi made headlines in early 2026 for strongly condemning the Iranian government’s crackdown on protesters. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

The Iranian People’s Revolution has been ongoing since 1979.…. anti-government demonstrations began in October 1977, developing into a campaign of civil resistance that included communists, socialists, and Islamists

In addition to declaring the destruction of Israel as a core objective,[35][36]post-revolutionary Iran aimed to undermine the influence of Sunni leaders in the region by supporting Shi’ite political ascendancy and exporting Khomeinist doctrines abroad.[37]seeking to establish an Iranian-led Shia political order in the Middle East.[38]

The revolution caused a drastic change in the Iranian culture. Iran was no longer a thriving country. This is part of the reason so many Iranians began to flee to America.[45]

2026 and IRAN/ PERSIA fights
to be FREE from Terrorism

On July 19, 2026: Iran ruthlessly executed two young men —for helping terrified protesters flee the regime’s brutal security forces during the widespread demonstrations earlier this year.

Erfan Esfandiari, 18, and Gol-Mohammad Mohammadi, a 23-year-old Afghan refugee, were hanged on Sunday for sheltering demonstrators from government bullets and offering them refuge inside their homes, Masih Alinejad, an Iranian-American journalist and activist, wrote for the Free Press, citing local reports.

The pair are among the 59 men arrested together during the January protests in Shahid Alikhani Square in Isfahan, during which Iranian officials say four security force members were killed.

Twelve of them, including Esfandiari and Mohammadi, were sentenced to death. Those dozen were moved into quarantine last week, which likely means the remaining 10 will be executed soon, according to Alinejad. [ NY POST]
