Easter “parade” 2021 outside St. Patrick’s Cathedral NYC

April 4, 2021. Easter Revelers gathered on Fifth Avenue outside St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Some dressed with ‘face diapers’ …. others, like Mr Rabbit, came fully masked.

All trying to recapture the fun of New York City’s famous Easter Parade, without an actual parade (aka promenade) up and down the avenue. (see the 2012 picture and follow links from past years [2012-  Part 1 ] [2012 – Part 2] and (2015 ) for Easter Past good times .

These Happy Days are not the same.

The Plandemic of 202o-21 rolls on, with no end in sight.

Though one religiously costumed fellow stood at the doors to the cathedral, he stood alone since most costumes favored Spring and The Bunny.

Perhaps because fear of death by Covid and the “New Normal” prevailed, nostalgia, yearning for a time when women dressed with style and people socialized, was popular.

Passersby had a small but colorful eye-fest.

And some, it seems, even got an Easter Egg.

Easter 2020 was locked down. Easter 2021 was roped in by relentless restrictions with no closing of the avenue, no promenade. (Flickr slide show next)

Guess the vaccine did NOT spring-wide the prison door. (Will the panic never end?)

Easter NYC – 2015 – Fifth Avenue – Pictures

I almost skipped the Easter “Parade” this year. FYI- It’s really a jam-packed promenade from 49 st. and St. Paddy’s Cathedral to about 54th-55th st.
But, the sun was out……Pulling me toward Fifth Avenue… Pulling me toward all the pretty hats.(It’s ALL about The Hats)
And Happy People
Happy Children Happy Families (of all ages)Happy Friends Lots of friends (Old and New-Found friends)
On the Avenue… Fifth Avenue… NYC Easter 2015
In the midst of a world weary from terrorism, I am so very glad I hung-out for a couple of hours with so many Happy People.
Of course, all was not flowers and hats. This is NYC, after all. There was this one unfortunate fellow (with a sartorial ‘egg’ from Manhattan College)
He was sitting close by the marionette show.
And, thankfully, some OWS protestors who stood out side St. Patrick’s were gone after about 30 minutes. It just wasn’t the time or place for such a display.
This was much more fun. Their smiles, their joy, was perfect.
