Women’s Alliance March on NYC : “Come Rise and ROAR with us” in 2020

The Women’s Alliance was one of two NYC marches planned for January 18, 2020. They announced: “The demonstration will take on a different tone than in past years as its leaders seek to turn over a new leaf with disaffected activists and groups that in recent years have cut ties with the organization.” [NBC NY]

Slogans to win friends and influence people.

The Women’s Alliance was at Columbus Circle [https://womensmarchalliance.org/]

The Women’s Unity March, was at Foley Square. [https://www.womensmarchnyc.org]

10 am – chose Columbus Circle to catch the Chilean Rape Feminist Collective (Las Tesis) that has become all the rage.

I had readWe are partnering with other womXn’s organizations in New York City to bring this action to the uptown-based (Columbus Circle) Women’s March on Saturday, January 18.  Las Tesis performs  throughout the world, their viral anthem, “The Rapist is YOU!’. This action is for womXn-identifying folX only. We welcome our non-womXn allies to join us for the march following the action!

They welcome dyou (sort of) with images that challenged good-taste ….

Unfortunately, all I found was a women’s drum corp; couldn’t find Las Tesis.

In the distance, however, was the early bird crowd jammed close by the stage. I moved on to record their pithy signs for posterity.

Spent the next hour watching the group-lets of women (and men) marching down Central Park West.

Sign after sign advanced toward the Rise and Roar stage, having started at 72nd st.; the entry point to CPW.

Heard a couple of speakers – all ROARING as they began and ended their speeches. (lots of silly roaring) Then I caught sight of Dion Cini’s Trump 2020 flag flying high over the crowd. (Fun)

NY Lt Gov, Kathy Hochul‘s speech was cheered on by the appreciative crowd.

Once I saw the Trump 2020 flag cross over to the park side, I dropped by for a quick hello; that’s when I overheard an officer thanking Dion for his flag. (nice)

Dion,  countering the feminist lies.

Enjoyed this pro-Trump moment, before heading toward the Chilean rape marchers (I think they were finally getting a small group together)

Also, sharing the space with some NO WAR protestors.

Later I heard I had missed the SPITTER, triggered by the Trump 2020 flag. Glad to see the NYPD was not harassing Dion.

Spitting on me because of my hat & flag is now considered ‘Women’s Rights’

TRIGGERED by everything Trump.

And then there was that “Guitar Man of Central Park”, proud of his hatred for our President.  #thatguitarman  (Sad)

Final note: The announced meet-up in Times Square, where the two groups would come together – in spite of their differences – fizzled out. 43rd and 6th (not Times Sq) is where the Alliance finished their march – and dispersed.

The Foley Sq marchers did not appear in Time Sq. (So much for UNITY)

The Alliance and Unity protests, each roared loud and proud, but – in spite of the “diversity” claims – the crowd was mostly WHITE women. middle aged. moneyed. Educated women of “privilege” claiming to have suffered under some wicked patriarchy – here – in the United States. Annoying silliness, from all ages. All colors. Rude. crude. entitled.

++“2020 is the Year of the Roar! We Roar for Justice. We Roar for Peace. We Roar for Change. We Roar Equality. THE WOMEN OF NYC ARE UNITED!” ++

“At Columbus Circle, The Women’s March Alliance also supports the ROARS of the Women’s March NYC rally taking place at Foley Square. It was a priority to bring the two marches together. Both leadership teams have been working seamlessly and cooperatively to ensure success and sisterhood going forward, continuing the tradition of marching for justice and equality.

“This will be the last March with Donald Trump in the White House (as he’ll probably be removed a few days later), so this is our biggest moment to stand up and prove we have not gone away, gotten scared, or turned our backs to the misogyny and bigotry he spews and enables.”

This Women’s March on NYC is embracing of women and our non-binary, gender-fluid, a-gender and male allies from all walks of life and experiences.

From the “NYC Women’s Unity March & Rally”: Rise and Roar 2020 (Foley Sq). “RISE with us as we rally at Foley Square and then march to Times Square to meet our sister marches as we ROAR. We must vote in November. Stay WOKE.

Foley Square – 3pm – RISE and ROAR Unite with Columbus Circle rally in Times Square. “Walking and train marches will converge as thousands of women and allies meet together under the lights of Times Square in solidarity and unity for Women’s Rights.” (DID NOT HAPPEN)

As for that that United Front: “The Best Laid Plans of Mice and WomXn, Gang aft a-gley.” Better luck next time, LadiXs.
