Celebrate Israel Parade 2009 etc…

May 31, 2009. Supporters of Israel came out in force for the annual Salute to Israel parade up Fifth Avenue.This year’s parade celebrated the birth of the Jewish state in 1948 and also the 100th birthday of the city of Tel Aviv. Am Y’Israel Chai!!

The excitement and beauty …the joy was everywhere.

BTW- After the parade we passed through Times Square (Bloomberg’s Folly) and saw the glut of tourists that now CLOG midtown

sitting on those ubiquitous lawn chairs ….is this a possible explanation for the QUIET, rather pedestrian-free Fifth Avenue we had noticed as we left the parade in the 50’s. Fifth Avenue in the 40’s was like a ghost-town. Gee…. Thanks fer nothin’, Mr. Mayor.
