Great Report from FrontPageMag on Pete Hoekstra of Michigan and John Shadegg of Arizona:Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives
The Washington Times | Tuesday, August 19, 2008
Republicans in Congress are staging a historic 21st-century Boston Tea Party on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. On Aug. 1, Speaker Nancy Pelosi – without addressing gas prices that continue to hover near $4 per gallon – adjourned Congress for five weeks, dimmed the lights, turned off the microphones and C-SPAN cameras and attempted to remove the press and visitors from the House chamber.
Republicans refuse to leave the chamber (Go-Team!)because the issue is about much more than gas prices. It is about much more than energy. It is about the U.S. economy, jobs and national security. It is about who we are as a people. (snip)
The Capitol is the People’s House, not the Speaker’s House. (snip)Republicans should continue the 21st-century Boston Tea Party in Washington until Democrat leaders heed the American public’s call to action and allow America to access the significant energy resources we have placed off-limits for purely political reasons.
Not one more barrel of foreign oil. Not one more American laid off because we choose to leave our vast energy resources untapped. And, not one more dollar spent to fund our enemies.
These Radical, Environmentalists must be stopped.
They represent Pelosi and company NOT America!

House GOP Revolt: Day Two
News Flash-the WWW (Wicked Witch of the West) Nancy Pelosi standing firm: NO BREAK in the Recess/NO VOTE on Drilling
Thank you Fausta’s Blog
And now… some good reading:
at AmericanThinker.com August 04, 2008
As I write this, House Republican members are carrying on about gas prices again in the darkened House chamber.
Representative Mike Culbertson is covering it for the rest of us on Qikking. Meanwhile, Nancy Pelosi is standing firm; no break in the recess and no vote on drilling:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Sunday ruled out a vote on new offshore oil drilling even
(SNIP) The scramble over expanded drilling off America’s coasts – ammunition for a weekend of rat-a-tat-tat by the presidential campaigns – underscores the political power of $4-a-gallon gas. Though President Bush and other backers (SNIP) …have pounded Democrats for opposing the measure, which is now supported by most Americans.
(Why change…WHY should the Demon-crats start listening to The People?)
Today’s protest… a little more subdued than the electrifying events of Friday, …show(s) the determination of the GOP to bring the drilling issue to a vote now:
While Friday’s session had all the passion of a revival meeting, with members jumping off airplanes and rushing back to the House floor to thunderous applause, it was a more subdued affair on Monday morning.
(Snip)
Republicans held to tradition to open their mock-session, with Rep. Gresham Barrett (R-S.C.) leading an opening prayer and Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) leading the pledge of allegiance. (Snip).
The GOP has the right attitude toward this issue… letting the American people see who the leaders are and who are the obstructionists. That alone is worth losing a little vacation time over.
